The cloud is finally starting to lift, if a little slower than I had hoped, and just in time as my mother was threatening to phone the shiny new crisis line, well its not shiny and new (it has been around for CMHT for about a year) but has just been introduced for the CAMHS outreach team users. Few. Now things are getting better and life that little bit more bearable I can take on board the advice people have given me; like yesterday when I wrote a post just for me not thinking about anyone else. Today I am doing something Erin suggested, to go off topic for a post and today I am writing about my second favourite topic after Sims; jelly.
So when I said I was going to write about making jelly I bet you thought I would list about 100 ingredients and make from scratch. Something like the scene in cold comfort farm with tables covered in flour and brightly coloured jelly and sweat on my forehead. hell no; you have got me completely wrong I am no chef, in fact I can cook things in cans, microwave meals, cakes and cold food. If I go to university next year I have no idea how I will cope. I have two ways of making jelly one for if I am depressed and cannot do anything at all and one for if things are ok. Well my first way has no making at all unless you count this-
So what to do; trek to the fridge and select a pot of jelly, collect spoon from draw and collapse on carpet upstairs, open pot and place spoon in it, eat and then leave said pot where you are lying and go back to bed. If you have some more energy you can try jelly making like a pro,
So jelly Hannah style hence a poor picture of me; what you need is a measuring jug, jelly and scissors (if you live in the UK avoid tesco extra value, while it is only 8p it tastes like shite), cut up the jelly into the smallest pieces possible and place in jug with 100ml of water and put into a microwave for a minute while you are waiting why not list reasons about why you are a bad person if you are feeling rather low or if you are at the other end of the spectrum do star-jumps. Remove from microwave stir, add water up to a pint (or ml equivalent) and pour into a container. You could go for the traditional look with a glass mould, or the funky cat, rabbit or mouse pictured. If you are really cool you could do something like this. Then put it in the fridge, if you are really hungry you can eat it in about an hour in jelly soup form or you could just go back to bed and eat it the next day.
Last line…
This must be the strangest thing I have heard yet some people just have too much time on their hands. On that topic does anyone have any suggestions of good films/dvd’s to watch. I have got a lot of time on my hands but limited energy and I haven’t watched any films for a while so I was thinking of sending my sister to Blockbusters of doing an amazon order.

You are just too much!
Very nicely done, love the photo of you looking very coy. I’ll have to see if I can get one of those cat molds over here somewhere – that looks like fun. I bet if nothing else I could find one on eBay…

I love the online Blockbuster service – much cheaper than renting instore, and you don’t have to budge out the house except to the postbox

Apocalypto is entertaining, and features what must be the longest chase scene ever (except The Fugitive but that doesnt count). Granted it is fairly mindless, but the scenery is great and the atmosphere is well done.
In my worst states I found renting (or downloading) whole seasons of mindless tv can be helpful. You need to outline some genres you like for proper recommendations…

Jelly is best eaten as the cubes straight out of the box – trust me on this (although obviously less fun than one in the shape of a cat or the White House etc). Any Studio Ghibli animé is good for light-hearted daytime viewing!!

Candy is a beautiful film (with Heath Ledger in it
) but it’s a bit sad and about heroin. Another Junk film is Pure with Keira Knightly which I also love. Little Miss Sunshine is one of those bittersweet, under dog comes through in the end films and the soundtrack is amazing. Take care jelly baby xx

Yeah, Chuckle has it right – in cubes, out the box! All the way!
Hm, if you have a lot of time on your hands, then The Stand, by Stephen King, but it was a TV miniseries so it’s eight hours long…
Was the barely-changed proof read I did OK? Because I’m putting your post into my draft section now, so if you want something changed tell me very soon!

Thanks or the film suggestions guys, I asked my sister a few hours ago about films and all she could list was chick flicks which are not really my cup of tea.
Erin- isnt the cat mould great, I love it. The only problem is I can never be bothered to take the jelly out of it so rarely see jelly cat in its proper form but just eat it out of the tub its in.
Chouette- right I am off to check out blockbusters online right now, well after I tidy my room, phone up the place I have applied for a summer job from, read a few more blogs, checked my stats, hecked my stats agin. You know what I mean.
Darkentries- well I wouldnt mind watching something funny. I am not too keen on horror films or chick flicks but apart from that I am not too fussy as I rarely watch films.
Chuckle- see the picture of jelly cubes, that there is a piece missing you can guss where that went. There is no point cooking if you dont get to eat as you go along.
Em- mmmnnn jelly baby’s , last time I went down to tescos they were two for one. I might have to go and get some when it stops raining. Right I will go and check out the films you have suggested.
Suzy-the changes were all good, will you put the links in propperly. MMnn jelly cubes, I might have some tonight, you know middle of the night snacks kind of eating

Funny..hmm. Well, I found ‘The Invasion’ funny, but I don’t think it was supposed to be.
I downloaded all the series of Scrubs last year when I was low, and that helped keep me going through a rough patch. Likewise Arrested Development.
Little Miss Sunshine is definitely worth watching. Juno is ok.
If you haven’t seen it yet Garden State is a good rambling amusing film.
Erm. Funny films are few and far between really, unless you like Vince Vaughn in which case you probably have enough films to last you for all time.

I’ve scared of sounding like a perv here but you have beautiful lips!
July 7, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Darkentries- scrubs, I love that show. Me and my ex boyfriend would spend days watching it and not moving, just phoning up for pizza at various intervals. I must watch more and soon. I think tomorrow may turn into a scrubs day once my CPN has finished her visit.
Seaneen- you dont sound like a perv. my lips, well they are rather plump (from my mother) with a slight jewishness to them (from my father). They are probably my favourite feature it doesnt show if you loose too much weight or put too much on with your lips. thanks for putting me on your blogroll, you were the first blog I ever came across, I can remember it so clearly it was just after I came out of hospital for the first time and suddenly I found this world of people like me and from your site I found other people, I feel honoured. Oh gosh that sounded a bit cheesy but I am sure you get the jist.

I have many, well, not fond, but blank and hazy memories of watching hours of back to back Scrubs (with a little Huff thrown in for a mixer) while smacked up on Zispin and valium.

also. one should not keep half eaten tins of spaghetti hoops in the fridge. Always empty into an old indian takeaway container first.
Botulism.
Is all I have to say.
Yes I totally zoomed in on your fridge contents. What? You already know I’m crazy.

Funnily enough the ward manager and I were talking about jelly today when we were having lunch together. One of the HCSW had a barbecue at the weekend to celebrate her birthday and my named nurse took a trifle. She wanted to make one with cherry jelly but couldn’t find any anywhere so she had to settle for strawberry. Do you know anywhere you can get cherry jelly?! I spoke to her this evening after I got back from leave and apparently even after settling on strawberry it was still a palava because when she got home she discovered it was out of date. She dragged herself all the way back to Tescos and discovered the whole box was out of date. Tescos gave her a £5 voucher for her troubles!
There that’s my jelly story for today!
Films – gotta be Hot Fuzz – watched that twice yesterday. Once before going to bed/sleep and then again at 3 am – I’m a total insomniac at the moment. Also, someone else has mentioned it, Little Miss Sunshine. It’s just a really lovely film.

I ahve just remembered the last film I watched; poppy shakespeare on 4OD, it was really great. I must have watched it about eight times as i couldnt sleep and had no energy. I think that might have been the week I did not get out of my PJ’s at all.
Darkentries- botulism, ewwww. I am going to fix that right away. Please dont look too closely at my fridge it is so very dirty. I think all of my family members are waiting for someone else to clean it.
Thereandback- hmm cherry jelly, I dont think I have seen it anywhere. It would have to be made from scratch which takes about half an hour and more gelatine than you can imagine. I want a tesco voucher, I am so poor at the moment. Next time I go instore I may look for things that are out of date (i am so cool) that would get me ten packets of jelly, enough to last me a fortnight. As so many people have said little miss sunshine I think that may be the first thing I watch.

I hate jelly, I hate the way it wobbles but use to love mum making rabbit shaped jellies when I was a kid, but I woudn’t eat them!

[...] That’s it’s possible to make jelly in a microwave… [...]
